Make-Up Haute Couture by DIOR
FROM PARIS WITH LOVE

Fashion is made of dreams and so are the looks presented at the Haute Couture Shows in Paris every season. The look of DIOR is always one of its kind – and the make-up Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director of Dior Make-Up, created for the Spring/Summer 2018 show is remarkable as well. This season is all about a strong look that echoes the surrealist inspiration behind Maria Grazia Chiuri’s collection, based on the character and works of Leonor Fini.

Surrealism is also a really important artistic movement for me. This aesthetic revolution made its mark, and it still resonates today. Salvador Dali and Man Ray, as well as the German photographer Grete Stern are all references for me, and I particularly appreciate their provocative vision

Their artistic freedom inspired an extreme, excessive eye design, using quotations chosen by Maria Grazia Chiuri, I also wanted to emphasize the surrealist sense of humor and taste for subversion with temporary black tattoos drown straight onto fingers, ears and around the neck.

“CLEF”, “LIBERTÉ”, “CONTRADICTION”, “L’ART”, “BAL MASQUÉ”, “MIROIR”, “ATTITUDES SPECTRALES”, “L’AMOUR EST TOUJOURS DEVANT VOUS. AIMEZ !”, “NOUS SOMMES TOUS SURRÉALISTES”, “L’AMOUR FOU”, “L’IMAGINAIRE, C’EST CE QUI TEND À DEVENIR RÉEL”, as well as “AU DÉPART IL NE S’AGIT PAS DE COMPRENDRE MAIS BIEN D’AIMER”
– the chosen words and massages celebrate the creative spirit of surrealism –
