AD HONOREM

On July the 15th it’s the 20th anniversary of Gianni Versace’s death. In honor of this occasion the Premium Group presents in collaboration with the Brazilian private collector Alexandre Stefani his long curated collection of Versace’s art works. The show will take place next Wednesday and Thursday at the SHOW&ORDER AT KRAFTWERK in Berlin during the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.
The show carries Gianni Versace's well-known quote:

„I think it's the responsibility of a designer to try to break rules and barriers.”

Extraordinary prints, luxurious materials and last but not least: the golden head of the mystic figure medusa, which became the logo and trademark of the fashion house are part of this exhibit. 26 hand picked looks out of Alexandre Stefani’s 500 pieces collection will be presented. These include some of the collector’s favorite pieces like those „scandalous pieces“ from Gianni’s Bondage-Collection in 1992, which was inspired by the tabooed S&M scene: a dress from top to button made out of metal or a perl embroidered vest.

Why Berlin? The relationship between Germany and the Italian designer goes back straight to his beginning in the fashion industry. Gianni Versace saw the potential of the city with it’s art, fashion and culture input and rated it high already when he started his career. Besides his first fashion show, which was organized by the German fashion icon Albert Eickhoff, took place in 1978 in Lippstadt, and in 1994 Gianni’s first exhibition was shown in Berlin’s Kunstgewerbemuseum. Now, during this year’s Fashion Week, Berlin celebrate the genius of this creative mind once more: from the 4th to the 6th of July at the SHOW&ORDER AT KRAFTWERK (Köpenicker Strasse 70, 10179 Berlin).
