Moving moments are the best in life, and I don’t just mean the emotional ones. Sports and exercise do such amazing things with us: aside from balancing out our sedentary daily grind, it releases body-own endorphins, making us feel happy and content. However, working out can require a lot of commitment. Especially during winter, when we have to put on all these layers before we can finally move towards the gym. The best way to still get into the groove is to move accompanied by music. Beats help us move even in the laziest of moments.
Based on this, some smart trainers have created a wonderful new and also challenging workout. Combining music - or better moving to the beat - and sport, we have discovered the newest trend in exercise : From Berlin to Vienna people have been testing a new way thing - SPINNING 2.0. The sporting challenge for those who are searching for a bit of detox in a party lifestyle.
Berlin is definitely a big adventure. Yet Berghain is not the only place where you’re able to set your mind free. What I am talking about is BECYCLE. An innovative gym that came up with a special spinning class, placed in a party like surrounding. You’ll find yourself in a dark room illuminated solely by some flashing disco spots – and the only thing that is added on top are moving techno beats and the directing voice of the trainer. Junate Acar is one of them, getting you moving during these challenging 60 minutes – cycling to the bpi of the music.
„If you really want to get fit again – to dance all night long in Berghain or just in life – first visit my class!“, he says.
Nothing brings you into rhythm and the mood to move all day and night more than pedalling. No contest: This workout is ambitious and for me dancing at Berghain afterwards was more a dream than something that would become reality. They’re not lying though: your mind is definitely set free. No more wondering, no more questioning - just you, your strength and your bike. So yea, it’s kind like dancing all night long, but with the great effect that you do your weekly workout at the same time.
„I recommend to my clients to do their spinning session around three times a week to really get the full benefit out of it. It’s a great full body training – legs, butt, belly and also arms (thanks to the free weights, which are also part of the workout on the bike) are going to be trained.“, explains Junate. „And the best thing is: the only thing that counts in these minutes is you - all you see is me, all you feel are your muscles and the music!“

The sports class for those looking for some kind of me-time between everyday life and sightseeing.
Vienna is a great place to live, but also a great spot to visit. Constantly enveloped in culture and society that rare me-time can become something highly sought after. Doing some exercise to help you reboot can be very welcome. That’s how we found the newly opened spot called SUPERCYCLE. It offers a similar concept to Berlin, but with a different spin to it. The mood is much more cosy and the classes not just filled with techno fans. „Dance-Cycle“ is the motto the two founders, Rhana Loudon and Olivia Hromatka, brought over from New York, Los Angeles and London to Vienna. Hip hop music and salsa are also on the agenda of the cycling classes. The bikes are also placed in a dark room, illuminated by some club lights and a disco ball, giving each class this nice sparkle whilst you pedal. That’s not all though: Instead of counting the bpi on your bike’s monitor in order to follow the beats with our movement, the training is based more on choreography. So whether you want to train your butt, belly or arms – you’ll receive everything you were hoping for, and more, at one of these sessions.
This gym also offers a little special something: Next to the cycling room they’ve opened a little Kita where a sweet baby sitter takes care of the little ones during mums and dads workout. A big plus, because who else needs me-time more than young parents, right? And the next bonus is: spinning is a great way to get into shape again after giving birth, without straining your body the wrong way.

As I’m traveling back and forth between these cities, I must say that I have finally found my personal favourite workout next to yoga. On the one hand, this really makes me happy, but it also gives me great support in doing what I want wherever I travel and work.
